for Flag Activity:
As
you just read in the story about Betsy
Ross, she was the designer of the American Flag. I want you to pretend you
just moved to a new country that was just created. This country doesn’t have a
flag and needs to design one. Think about what is important in your country and
how it may be represented in a flag.
Take
a piece of computer paper and create
your own flag, which you will share with the class at the end of the day. Think
about what it represents. Remember, this is a brand new country and you were
asked to design a flag, what will it look like? You can include pictures,
symbols, shapes… Be creative!
